Selected technical work

Define the physical-system question before choosing a method.

Some technical questions cross software, devices, material records and laboratory workflows. Start with what needs to be established, the available materials and the constraints. Feasibility determines whether a useful scope can be agreed.

Overview

A defined question and a documented result.

  • A scope identifying the question, available materials, methods and access limits
  • The agreed record of observations, references and technical checks
  • Findings supported by those methods and materials
  • Unresolved questions, limitations and recommended next steps

01

Questions we can discuss

  • Device condition, component identity questions or signs of modification, subject to feasible inspection and comparison methods.
  • Accessible firmware, software or configuration and their relationship to a defined device behavior.
  • Laboratory workflows, sample or material records, and the software or device interfaces involved.
  • Technical inconsistencies in supplier documentation or available component and material records.

02

Agree the method before accepting the work

We first establish whether the question can be addressed with the available access, references and tooling. Device inspection, component research, microscopy or firmware extraction is included only after feasibility has been confirmed. Material testing and specialist analysis require their own method and capability review; they are not assumed to be available.

03

Keep observations separate from conclusions

A mark, unexpected component, firmware difference or inconsistent supplier record is an observation to assess in context. It does not by itself establish intent, attribution, origin, legal status or the absence of compromise. Reports state which references were available and where a comparison could not be made.

04

Start with a high-level summary

  • Describe the system or material, the technical question, relevant history, available references and the decision deadline.
  • Keep confidential records, credentials, firmware images and sensitive photographs out of the initial form. Do not send physical items before handling and transfer arrangements are agreed.
  • Authorization, storage, transport, any destructive steps, data handling and return or disposal arrangements are agreed separately before access or transfer.
  • Fees, deliverables and timing follow the accepted scope. No turnaround is promised before the material and method are understood.

Limits

Scope and limitations.

  • No blanket guarantee of component authenticity, device safety, implant detection or complete compromise exclusion.
  • No claim of laboratory accreditation, universal firmware extraction or support for every imaging or material-analysis technique.
  • Questions requiring unavailable specialist methods, formal handling processes or safety-critical testing need a separate scope and a suitable provider.

Next step

Describe the question and the materials available.
